We are seeking a Senior Medical Physicist to provide scientific and technical leadership in nuclear medicine imaging using SPECT and SPECT/CT instruments for general nuclear medicine applications, such as multi-modal quantitative imaging, image based internal dosimetry, and clinical workflow optimization. This individual will serve as a key subject matter expert supporting product development, clinical validation, customer engagement, and scientific collaboration across the Molecular Imaging organization. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical practice, imaging science, and product innovation while helping shape the future of quantitative nuclear medicine and theranostics.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., D.Sc., or M.S. in Medical Physics, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical and/or industry experience in Nuclear Medicine with demonstrated hands-on experience using SPECT and SPECT/CT imaging systems.
  • Deep understanding of quantitative SPECT and SPECT/CT imaging, including calibration methodologies, recovery coefficient analysis, activity quantification, image quality assessment, and instrument assessments following NEMA NU1, IEC61675-2, ACR or similar.
  • Strong expertise in image reconstruction, image processing, and quantitative imaging workflows.
  • Experience performing radionuclide dosimetry using established methodologies and software tools.
  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine instrumentation and detector physics, including detector technologies, collimator performance, system sensitivity, spatial resolution, and count-rate behavior.
  • Experience conducting phantom studies, image quality evaluations, and system performance assessments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification through ABR, CCPM, or an equivalent medical physics certification organization.
  • Clinical experience with Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging platforms such as Symbia TruePoint, Symbia Intevo (Bold), SYMBIA Pro.specta with IQ•SPECT(+), and xSPECT technologies.
  • Experience supporting theranostics programs, quantitative imaging initiatives, or clinical research studies.
  • Experience with OLINDA/EXM, HERMES Medical Solutions, or other related platforms.
  • Experience with Nuclear Cardiology software such as 4DM, Cedars or other related platforms.
  • Experience with Nuclear Neurology software.
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, technologists, and administrators.
  • Scientific publication record and presentations at professional meetings such as SNMMI, EANM, RSNA, IEEE NSS/MIC, AAPM or similar organizations.
  • Familiarity with advanced image analysis techniques, AI-assisted image reconstruction, and quantitative imaging of biomarkers.

Responsibilities

  • Providing scientific leadership in quantitative SPECT and SPECT/CT imaging, reconstruction methodologies, and image quality optimization.
  • Supporting the development, validation, and clinical implementation of advanced quantitative imaging workflows across Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging platforms.
  • Evaluating and optimizing clinical task-based image formation methods.
  • Designing, executing, and interpreting phantom studies to assess quantitative accuracy, lesion detectability, contrast recovery, image noise characteristics, and overall system performance.
  • Performing and supporting quantitative imaging analyses, calibration methodologies, recovery coefficient studies, SUV measurements, and activity concentration assessments.
  • Applying patient-specific radionuclide dosimetry methodologies to support theranostic treatment planning, response assessment, and quantitative imaging initiatives.
  • Collaborating with product development, systems engineering, software development, regulatory, and clinical teams to translate clinical needs into innovative product solutions.
  • Supporting image quality assessments, performance evaluations, acceptance testing, and validation activities using applicable NEMA, IEC, and industry standards.
  • Providing scientific consultation and technical expertise to customers, field organizations, and internal stakeholders on advanced quantitative SPECT and dosimetry workflows.
  • Supporting clinical research initiatives, scientific collaborations, and evidence-generation activities that advance Molecular Imaging technologies.
  • Developing technical documentation, scientific reports, presentations, publications, and training materials for internal and external audiences.
