About The Position

ASML is a global leader in chip-making equipment and the semiconductor lithography field, driving digital transformation. The media relations team supports ASML's business goals and reputation as an innovation powerhouse, trusted employer, and community stakeholder. ASML operates at the intersection of technology, national security, industrial policy, and international trade, making clear and consistent communications crucial for trust and understanding. The media is increasingly interested in ASML's technology, people, global footprint, supply chain, and role in the semiconductor ecosystem, as well as policy and geopolitical topics like export controls, trade measures, and industrial policy. The media relations team maintains strong, transparent relationships with international media to support ASML's reputation and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience in issues communications across government affairs/public policy and geopolitically sensitive topics, preferably in a global listed company, public affairs environment, or journalism.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, working on an executive level in an international environment.
  • Proven ability to influence and network.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Ability to translate complex (technical and policy/geopolitical) content into meaningful and engaging language.
  • Ability to drive action in uncertain or evolving situations; processes new information quickly and adjusts strategies accordingly; displays situational adaptability under time pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with colleagues across multiple regions/locations; cultural sensitivity.
  • Interpersonal influence: builds trust and rapport with communications colleagues, senior business leaders and other partners; pursues goals in a constructive and assertive way; explores potential solutions during disagreements and searches for the win-win.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand relationships with the media to communicate ASML's messages to key external audiences, with a focus on government affairs and geopolitics.
  • Develop and execute a proactive strategic media plan supporting ASML's core messages and business goals related to government affairs, public policy, trade, and geopolitics.
  • Ensure media plans and activities have clear objectives tied to business goals, geopolitical strategies, and key target audiences, enabling analysis and measurement of impact.
  • Stay updated on business, technology, and policy developments to identify media opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other communications teams, the government affairs function, and legal/compliance teams to identify and advise on media initiatives.
  • Draft and review statements, press materials, and Q&A on policy and issues topics (e.g., export controls, trade measures, industrial policy, supply chain resilience).
  • Arrange media briefings/interviews and engage with U.S. and international journalists.
  • Increase knowledge about government affairs and geopolitical topics among communications colleagues worldwide.
