About The Position

Join a fast-growing clean-energy technology company developing advanced thermal energy storage solutions for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. This role focuses on integrating chilled-water and cooling-plant systems to improve data center capacity, energy efficiency, resiliency, and grid stability. The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer leads mechanical integration projects from design through commissioning across the United States. The position is remote in the U.S., with the Dallas-Fort Worth area preferred, and requires approximately 20% domestic travel. The role combines engineering design, cross-disciplinary coordination, field execution, commissioning support, presales contributions, automation of engineering workflows, collaboration with global R&D and product teams, and mentoring junior engineers. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to clean-energy infrastructure and mission-critical projects while developing toward technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC, chilled-water systems, or energy infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of hydronic systems, thermodynamics, cooling plants, and BAS/BMS integration.
  • Experience coordinating work across mechanical, controls, and electrical disciplines.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, or similar design tools.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, startup, and field-execution processes.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • PE license.
  • Experience in data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Exposure to thermal energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with data-center cooling architectures, including air-side and water-side economization.
  • Experience with industrial refrigeration or low-temperature glycol systems.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME B31.3, IPC, NEC, and applicable U.S. building codes.
  • Experience with hydraulic or pipe-stress analysis software, such as Pipe-Flo or AutoPIPE.
  • Familiarity with energy/load modeling tools, including TRACE or HAP.
  • Experience using Python, VBA, Dynamo, or AI tools to automate engineering workflows.
  • Experience preparing technical narratives, proposals, or RFP responses.
  • Background in retrofit projects, operational facilities, or fast-growth environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and integration of thermal energy storage and chilled-water systems.
  • Develop and review P&IDs, hydronic piping layouts, equipment arrangements, valve schedules, and controls integration interfaces.
  • Perform hydraulic and pipe-stress analyses and support code-compliant engineering documentation.
  • Integrate systems with chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, and BAS/BMS platforms.
  • Collaborate with data center operators, MEP firms, contractors, design engineers, controls integrators, and commissioning teams.
  • Support site surveys, startup, commissioning, and functional testing activities.
  • Provide technical input for presales efforts, proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Create or apply automation tools, such as Python or Excel/VBA, to improve engineering analyses and documentation.
  • Partner with global R&D and product teams to refine system designs and deployment methods.
  • Mentor junior engineers as the engineering team expands.
