About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to join its Advanced Solutions Group. The group designs, constructs, and operates specialized research and development facilities serving the nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace industries. The role may be based in Tullahoma, Tennessee; Farmington Hills, Michigan; or Greenville, South Carolina. The engineer leads and manages multidisciplinary projects from concept through execution, delivering high-quality solutions and meeting client expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. The position leads development of process-system designs for research and test facilities; plans and coordinates engineering work; reviews and quality-checks deliverables; prepares reports, presentations, calculations, specifications, layouts, and drawings; and mentors junior engineers. Systems may include high-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping, high-temperature and steam systems, refrigeration, vacuum, fuel, and specialty HVAC systems. The engineer also selects and specifies piping, ducting, pumps, compressors, fans, valves, flow measurement, fluid conditioning, and related equipment. The engineer collaborates with project managers, other engineering disciplines, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and trades. Duties may include stakeholder interviews, studies, design reviews, installation supervision, field troubleshooting, and support for construction, startup, and commissioning. Work is mainly in an office, with possible field work around machinery and on test stands, as well as travel for reviews, factory acceptance testing, construction, and onsite support.
