About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to join its Advanced Solutions Group. The role may be based in Tullahoma, Tennessee; Farmington Hills, Michigan; or Greenville, South Carolina. The group designs, constructs, and operates complex research and development facilities across nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace industries. The engineer will lead and manage multidisciplinary projects from concept through execution, delivering high-quality solutions and ensuring client satisfaction and project performance within scope, budget, and schedule. The position involves developing designs for process systems supporting research and test facilities; engineering systems such as high-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping, high-temperature and steam systems, refrigeration, vacuum, fuel, and specialty HVAC systems; and sizing and specifying associated piping, ducting, and equipment. The engineer will manage technical work, review and quality-check engineering deliverables, mentor junior staff, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, and support project management, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and field installation activities. Work is mainly in an office, with possible field work and travel for design reviews, factory acceptance testing, construction, startup, and commissioning. The role requires U.S. citizenship and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program, along with at least 10 years of engineering experience. The stated alternative is 12 years of engineering experience and a master’s degree from an accredited engineering school. Compensation is listed as $120,000–$155,000. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off and holidays; retirement benefits including 401(k) matching; educational reimbursement; parental leave; an employee stock purchase plan; tax-saving options; disability and life insurance; and pet insurance.
