About The Position

This is a senior hands-on engineering role for someone who can connect product design, manufacturing process, production flow, fixtures, documentation, and continuous improvement. The right person has experience in a growing manufacturing environment where engineering work directly affects production outcomes. You will help improve how products are designed, documented, built, and scaled while supporting both current production and future growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of full-time, post-graduation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering degree, Engineering Technology degree, or equivalent practical engineering background.
  • Direct experience in steel fabrication, weldments, heavy equipment, trailers, transportation equipment, off-highway equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, oilfield equipment, or similar manufactured products.
  • Proven experience personally implementing manufacturing improvements, fixtures, process changes, production documentation, or design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Experience working in a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing company, ideally under approximately 500 employees, where you personally owned broad responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, forming, machining, mechanical assembly, and production flow.
  • Ability to work effectively with shop-floor personnel, supervisors, engineering, purchasing, quality, and senior leadership.
  • Strong practical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to move improvements from concept to implementation.
  • Comfortable working on-site and spending regular time in production areas.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design engineering and production to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and build efficiency.
  • Review designs for fabrication risks, fit-up issues, weld access, bend strategy, tolerance concerns, tolerance concerns, assembly sequence, and material flow.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, inspection points, and production standards.
  • Design or support jigs, fixtures, shop aids, and tooling that improve repeatability and reduce rework.
  • Support steel fabrication, forming, welding, machining, mechanical assembly, and related production processes.
  • Help troubleshoot production issues and drive practical corrective actions.
  • Support engineering changes and help ensure changes are implemented effectively on the shop floor.
  • Improve documentation and reduce reliance on tribal knowledge.
  • Support layout, workflow, tooling, material handling, and production scale-up as the Waco operation grows.
  • Mentor and support less experienced designers, technologists, and production-support personnel.
