About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join their team. This role involves working and growing as a team player within a progressive, multi-discipline firm. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of mechanical design and project management, comfortable consulting with owners and general contractors, and eager to collaborate within a multi-discipline engineering team. The primary mission of this role is to expand the capabilities of the 14-person mechanical group into healthcare, education, data centers, and other target markets. This engineer will serve as a technical leader, bringing expertise in complex project design and execution while mentoring the team for long-term growth. They will contribute to building the next generation of mechanical engineering leadership at Coffman, ensuring the team is well-positioned to handle increasingly diverse and sophisticated projects while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and innovation.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• PE license in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Revit and AutoCAD experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with HVAC and plumbing system design for buildings.
• Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with his/her job.
• Must be persistent and follow through in a consistent manner.
• Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).

• Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures and basic marketing principles.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in healthcare, education, multi-family, and/or data center projects.
• Extensive knowledge of California building codes and California AHJs.
• Project Management experience and/or certifications.
• Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe InDesign software.
• Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
