About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience to help establish the company’s long-term presence in Idaho from its Boise office. This role offers the opportunity to shape client relationships, mentor future hires, influence office culture, contribute to staffing and strategic decisions, and support regional growth. The engineer will work with the electrical department and other disciplines as a technical and business leader, supporting business development and marketing while identifying project opportunities and expanding the client base. The position includes leadership, career advancement, and work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including advanced manufacturing, data centers, healthcare, higher education, commercial, industrial, federal and Department of Defense projects, and critical power systems. This position is not remote and is not eligible for sponsorship.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead multidisciplinary teams and electrical engineering projects, provide technical leadership and design quality oversight, and guide teams through complex design decisions. The role involves site visits to verify existing electrical system information, coordinating design solutions with owners, clients, and design partners, mentoring engineers and designers, and preparing fee- and qualifications-based proposals. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively and help foster the Boise office’s culture and strategic direction.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience.
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Required PE license.
• Experience managing teams and leading projects.
• History of direct client interaction and client support.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Knowledge and experience with the International Building Code (IBC), National Electrical Code, and U.S. design standards.
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
• Self-starter who can align individual contributions with company goals and follow through on commitments.
• Strong client-service orientation, ownership, and accountability.
• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and organizational skills, or ability to develop them quickly.
• Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with electrical studies software such as SKM, E-Tap, or Easy Power.
• Experience designing electrical systems for healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, federal/DoD, science and technology, and/or data center projects.
