About The Position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer prepares engineering reports, plans, and specifications for industrial projects. The role develops mechanical design approaches for major phases of large industrial projects, including installation, with emphasis on equipment specifications, load calculations, ductwork and pipe sizing, and selection of HVAC equipment such as pumps, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and air washer units. The position also designs plumbing and fire protection systems and piping for industrial utilities including nitrogen, oxygen, deionized water, fuel oil, steam, and instrument air. The engineer produces engineering drawings and instructions based on calculations; interprets and revises drawings; and prepares plans, isometrics, schematics, P&IDs, PFDs, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Duties include equipment selection and sizing, supervising system installation, repair, and replacement, and ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards. The engineer participates in contract bidding and administration, oversees design and project progress, and coordinates with public officials, outside agencies, clients, contractors, consultants, and firm staff. The role leads planning and research to resolve complex engineering problems, checks and approves shop drawings, performs piping stress analysis and support design for data center and industrial projects, and performs energy modeling in COMcheck.
