About The Position

The Airborne Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Receiver & Electronic Packaging Section in El Segundo, California. The role involves electronics packaging design for airborne radar subsystems, including antenna, receiver, exciter, processor, and power supply subsystems. The engineer will contribute throughout the hardware life cycle, from concept development, preliminary and detailed design through transition to production, production support, and installation. Designs support tactical airborne defense environment-based sensor systems, including ground-based, shipboard, airborne, and space sensors. Typical technologies include high-density printed wiring board assemblies, electronic enclosures, thermal heat exchangers, machined components, RF microwave assemblies, and power converter units, with demanding size, weight, power, and cost constraints. The position includes designing and releasing mechanical parts and systems, supporting internal operations and external suppliers, creating 3-D models, 2-D detail drawings, and change notices, and supporting the creation of design specifications and acceptance requirement documents. The role is onsite and offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required after day one; U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience completing detailed layouts and design documentation using computer-aided design tools.
  • Experience providing support to suppliers fabricating unit components and assemblies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day one.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in RF principles, RF circuit card design, RF materials, manufacturing, and producibility.
  • Design experience in high-frequency environments, enclosure design, EMI shielding, and thermal management.
  • Proficiency with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3-D solid modeling software.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes for CCAs, metal housings, and brazements, or experience in a manufacturing and assembly support role.
  • Strong technical background and high technical aptitude.
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Prior experience in defense or aerospace.
  • Antenna mechanical design experience.
  • Possess an active security clearance.

Responsibilities
