About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer in Cincinnati, Ohio to lead project management and design delivery for moderate to complex mechanical systems projects in the vertical building industry. This role supports project direction, engineering solutions, and implementation oversight while working closely with engineers and consultants to deliver positive client outcomes. You will manage schedules, billing, quality expectations, and coordination across all phases of design and construction while mentoring staff and supporting client relationships. With a team focused on industrial, manufacturing, and MEP work, this role contributes to high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the project management career path; strong training and mentoring skills
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Assist with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposals, and contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules with clear milestones and deadlines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for project teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting on time, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages monthly.
  • Ensure designs follow owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements.
  • Ensure design milestones are achieved, quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support is delivered on time.
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate project scheduling through all phases of design and construction.
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.
  • Respond to and resolve client and construction concerns, and manage change orders through approval.
  • Train, mentor, motivate staff, and build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
