About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Cincinnati, OH. This role supports moderate to complex projects and larger, high-complexity work, giving candidates the option to pursue either a Technical Path or a Project Management Path focused on electrical systems in buildings. In either path, the role includes project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight, along with budget accountability, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve client goals and client expectations. You will support industrial and manufacturing-focused work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.
  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.
  • Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
