About The Position

The Hot Section Engineering Design team is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably with turbine experience, to work on turbine module design, analysis, and sustainment. The role serves as a technical leader, resolving complex, high-impact mechanical engineering challenges with minimal oversight while ensuring safe, balanced, and robust system-level solutions. The engineer works with the Integrated Product Team, including project, structures, durability, aero-thermal, and product definition disciplines, and leads interactions with other Hot Section Engineering IPTs and technical capability aspects of the team. The role provides technical direction for turbine hardware outsourcing, reviewing and integrating supplier and partner engineering work to ensure high-quality design outputs and adherence to Hot Section Engineering standards. It builds customer credibility through validated, data-driven engineering solutions and accountability for turbine hardware performance, life, and reliability. The engineer collaborates with customer technical support, maintenance repair and overhaul engineering, and field service teams to interpret customer data, assess limits expansions, update maintenance manual limits, and lead root cause investigations of turbine-related field events. The engineer also partners with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering Support Teams to resolve production issues and nonconformances, represents Turbines in cross-functional forums and design reviews, and mentors junior engineers. The position promotes collaboration, professional development, continuous improvement, adoption of digital tools and advanced analysis methods, standard work, and lessons learned.
