About The Position

This Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is part of the Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Military Repairs group at Pratt & Whitney. The engineer develops repairs and tooling for military engine programs, including qualifying repair tooling, supporting repair-source qualifications, facilitating government approval, and coordinating with repair sources and government resources. The position participates in a multidisciplinary team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and aligned with current procedures and quality requirements. It involves researching component operating environments and functionality, understanding interactions with mating parts, and developing strategies to return damaged parts to service. The engineer creates technical documentation that defines and substantiates repair requirements and procedures, works with technical and program management to understand priorities and program issues, supports supplier and overhaul-depot audits, and helps the U.S. Air Force resolve field supportability issues. The role also provides engineering input to other departments, communicates program status and risks involving schedule, budget, and metrics, and leads the use of standard work procedures and CORE tools to support continuous improvement. It requires constructive relationships with peers and internal and external customers, and travel of up to 10%. English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking is required when communicating with English-only customers, coworkers, or supervisors. The position is hybrid, with regular work both onsite and offsite.
