Senior Marketing Systems and Automation Manager

CloudflareSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Cloudflare's Digital Marketing team is building a unified, signal-driven demand engine. It recognizes accounts at the web edge, acts on real-time intent, and turns anonymous traffic into high-velocity pipeline. That engine is only as strong as the systems underneath it, and those systems need an owner. We're hiring a Senior Marketing Systems and Automation Manager to be that owner. The heart of this role is running and governing marketing operations as they exist today: the intake queue, campaign operations, and lead flow that keeps demand generation moving, while steadily replacing the manual parts with automation. You have to understand the operation deeply, because you will both run it and decide what to automate. The systems architecture underneath is a real and important part of the job, and you will own and shape it in partnership with Engineering and Digital Marketing leaders, but your day-to-day is operating, governing, and automating the engine. The through-line is an idea we care about a great deal. We want automation that creates global consistency without gates. Picture one standard way of working that every team can trust, with enough flexibility built in that a team in another region, or a specialist with a particular use case, can apply it to their own needs without breaking the standard. Getting that balance right is the heart of this job. You'll turn a stack that runs today as a manual service function into an orchestrated engine, with Cloudflare's internal orchestration platform (Cloudflare OS) as the central system. You'll report directly to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing and lead a distributed contractor bench that spans architecture, development, and execution. You'll also be the senior counterpart to our BizApps, IT, Engineering, and Business Intelligence partners, and the single point of accountability for how marketing's systems are run, integrated, automated, and governed. The person we're looking for respects the old world and is energized to build the new one. If you can run the operation that exists while designing the automation that replaces its manual parts, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • 8+ years hands-on experience running marketing operations day to day, including intake, campaign operations, lead flow, and provisioning, because you cannot automate well what you do not understand deeply.
  • A proven track record identifying, scoping, and driving automation and orchestration that measurably reduced manual operational work.
  • Strong command of data governance, change control, and lead lifecycle, scoring, and multi-touch attribution as governed, documented systems.
  • Significant experience operating marketing technology stacks in a B2B environment, ideally at enterprise scale and complexity.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with marketing automation and CRM platforms (e.g., Marketo and Salesforce) and their integration architecture.
  • A track record of building standardized systems that still flex for regional or team-specific needs, balancing consistency against local control.
  • Experience owning identity resolution and a unified data layer across marketing and engineering systems, in partnership with technical teams.
  • Fluency working with technical partners in Engineering, IT, BI, and Procurement as a peer, translating between marketing needs and systems design.
  • Vendor and budget management experience, including tool rationalization.
  • Experience leading teams or directing contractors and vendors to a quality and delivery standard.
  • A systems-thinking mindset. You see the whole engine, not just individual tools, and you default to automating the repeatable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with server-side tracking and edge technologies (e.g., Zaraz), CDPs, and consent and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Familiarity with ABM platforms (e.g., Demandbase) and intent-data ecosystems.
  • Exposure to signal-driven, cookieless, and real-time personalization architectures.
  • Experience standing up internal automation platforms or replacing SaaS tools with internal builds.

Responsibilities

  • Run the marketing operations engine: Own the day-to-day operation that keeps demand generation moving: the intake queue, campaign operations, lead flow, and provisioning. Direct a distributed contractor bench spanning lifecycle architecture, development, and execution, setting priorities, scope, and the quality bar. Keep the lights on with rigor while you steadily automate the parts that don't need a human, so nothing degrades during the transition.
  • Own governance and the systems standard: Own data governance and the standards that keep the stack coherent globally: taxonomy, naming, integration patterns, and access. Own the lead scoring, lifecycle, and attribution model as a documented, version-controlled source of truth that operates as shared context for the company. Define and govern logic change controls, including who, how, and with what review. Create a transparent, auditable model that is portable to skills and shared context in Cloudflare OS.
  • Identify and drive agentic automation: Make Cloudflare OS the orchestration hub for marketing operations, turning intake, provisioning, data hygiene, consent, and reporting from manual human queues into automated, governed workflows. Decide what should be automated and what genuinely needs a human, then scope, prioritize, and drive the build. Design automation that delivers global consistency without gates, so every team works from the same standard that adapts to local needs. Move the operation to be system-based, measuring the reduction in manual effort, without losing the operational discipline that keeps demand flowing today.
  • Shape the systems architecture: Partner with Engineering and Digital Marketing leads on the data-layer schema and identity resolution, so real-time data resolves into a single account view. Set the architectural direction for the MarTech ecosystem and the unified data layer that connects it, so the automation and governance you own rest on a coherent foundation. Support the renew, replace, and sunset decisions across the tool portfolio each budget cycle, aligned to the digital engine roadmap.
  • Partner cross-functionally: Serve as marketing's senior systems partner to BizApps, IT, Engineering, and Business Intelligence. Own MarTech budget stewardship in partnership with Finance and Procurement. Partner closely with Paid Media, Growth, Web, and AEO/SEO so the systems serve the whole digital marketing engine.
