About The Position

Big Human is a full-service creative agency that collaborates with leading brands to realize their visions through technology, design, branding, and growth. Since 2010, they have a proven track record of delivering successful projects for a diverse clientele. As they expand their marketing division, they are seeking a Senior Marketing Strategist to manage client marketing initiatives comprehensively, from initial strategy to final execution. This role offers significant autonomy and is ideal for an experienced professional who understands best practices and can independently drive projects forward. The position integrates strategy, execution, editorial judgment, and client leadership, requiring the ability to translate business objectives into actionable marketing plans and execute them proactively. At Big Human, Marketing Strategists act as strategic growth partners, identifying and focusing on initiatives that yield the most significant impact. The role involves designing strategies, overseeing cross-channel execution, guiding content and creative development, leading client communications, and continuously monitoring and refining performance. This is not an entry-level position; it requires a proven ability to lead accounts, make critical prioritization decisions, and deliver work independently. The focus is on impact rather than mere activity.

Requirements

  • Owned a client or brand relationship end-to-end, from strategy through delivery
  • Built a GTM or campaign strategy from scratch
  • Shipped marketing work without a senior strategist reviewing every decision
  • Given content feedback that actually made the work better, not just different
  • Told a client (or internal stakeholder) "no" or "not yet" — and held the line
  • Think in outcomes, not deliverables
  • Focus on what moves the needle, not what fills the calendar
  • Make trade-offs confidently, even with imperfect information
  • Care whether the work worked, not just that it was shipped
  • Strong sense of what good content looks like across formats and brands
  • Can edit AI-generated drafts efficiently and elevate them to a high quality bar
  • Adapt voice across brands without losing what makes each one distinct
  • Manage your own workstreams without being managed
  • Organized, proactive, and accountable
  • Maintain momentum and ensure work progresses week to week
  • AI is already part of your daily workflow
  • Move from idea → draft → refined output efficiently
  • Apply judgment and taste to AI-assisted work (you're a skilled editor of it, not just a user of it)
  • Translate complexity into clarity
  • Make decisions confidently in ambiguous situations
  • Communicate priorities and risks without needing to be prompted
  • Agency or fast-paced multi-client experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience launching early-stage products or startups
  • Experience across multiple marketing disciplines (SEO/AEO, email, social, paid, content)
  • Experience building marketing systems or playbooks from scratch
  • Familiarity with Asana or similar project management tools
  • Experience mentoring or elevating junior team members

Responsibilities

  • Translate client goals (growth, revenue, engagement) into clear marketing strategies and execution plans
  • Develop GTM strategy for new and emerging products or initiatives
  • Take the first strategic pass when a project starts from scratch
  • Make clear trade-offs about what not to pursue, based on impact vs. effort
  • Ensure every initiative ladders back to defined goals and success metrics
  • Use AI tools to rapidly explore strategic directions, pressure-test plans, and move efficiently
  • Define clear goals and success metrics for each client and initiative
  • Continuously evaluate what's working, what's not, and where to double down
  • Reprioritize based on performance, new insights, or shifting client needs
  • Know when to say "no" or "not now" — and be able to explain why clearly
  • Break down strategy into weekly actions that drive measurable progress
  • Shape and elevate AI-assisted content to ensure it's on-brand, strategic, and high-quality
  • Review and edit articles, emails, captions, and campaign copy with a strong editorial eye
  • Set the quality bar for content on your accounts
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to content collaborators
  • Maintain voice, tone, and brand consistency across channels
  • Own marketing initiatives end-to-end from kickoff through delivery
  • Build systems and content for social media and creative campaigns
  • Prepare weekly updates and campaign summaries for clients
  • Identify risks early and resolve them before they become problems
  • Brief designers, producers, freelancers, and partner agencies clearly and effectively
  • Set expectations for deliverables, timelines, and success criteria
  • Ensure marketing assets meet both strategic and creative goals
  • Maintain strong communication across teams
  • Track marketing performance across channels
  • Translate data into clear insights and next steps
  • Ensure campaigns evolve based on learnings
  • Present marketing plans, campaign updates, and performance insights
  • Translate complex work into clear summaries and recommendations
  • Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and risks with confidence
