About The Position

Rho is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to establish and lead its presence in Los Angeles. This role will be responsible for community engagement, partnerships, brand building, demand generation, and customer growth within the LA market. The successful candidate will own a pipeline target, manage a budget, and collaborate closely with the local sales team. This is a highly visible, on-the-ground role requiring active participation in the LA founder ecosystem, including meeting with investors, visiting customer offices, and attending relevant events. The Los Angeles founder ecosystem is diverse, spanning industries like defense, aerospace, consumer brands, media, entertainment, and biotech, requiring a nuanced and adaptable marketing approach.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in marketing, community, partnerships, brand, or growth at a venture-backed company.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, defense tech, consumer brands, or media is a strong fit.
  • High level of initiative and ability to act independently.
  • Proven track record of growing a business, product line, market, or community.
  • Comfortable engaging in person with investors, customers, and partners.
  • Sociable and adept at building relationships face-to-face.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse industries.
  • Proficiency with data and finance, including reading pipeline dashboards, managing budgets, and interpreting growth experiments.
  • Existing network within the LA founder, operator, VC, or industry community, or a clear plan to build one rapidly.
  • Experience owning a pipeline number and understanding sourced pipeline metrics.
  • Proven ability to host successful events and build compounding personal relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and scrappy mindset, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Experience as a founder, operator, or accelerator alum.
  • Prior experience in or around defense tech, consumer brands, or the entertainment and media industry.

Responsibilities

  • Own the pipeline number, including sourced pipeline, startup customer acquisition, and Salesforce attribution.
  • Set targets and drive them through all marketing activities.
  • Grow the LA customer base by identifying and closing expansion opportunities within the existing customer base.
  • Conduct in-person engagements with high-value accounts.
  • Host customer-only gatherings to deepen relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the LA sales representative on targeting, follow-up, and account coverage.
  • Engage with VCs, family offices, and accelerators; visit customer offices; and attend industry events.
  • Build and nurture founder communities across various sectors by hosting events like dinners and roundtables.
  • Curate guest lists for community events.
  • Become a connector within LA's distinct founder communities.
  • Develop and manage direct relationships with accelerators, incubators, studio programs, and industry networks.
  • Oversee Rho's market presence through sponsorships, local press, activations, and founder content, in collaboration with the brand and creative team.
  • Run local growth experiments, including geo-targeted paid campaigns, branded search, Account-Based Marketing (ABM) for top LA accounts, and lifecycle nurturing tailored to LA founders.
  • Define and execute a unique marketing approach without relying on an established playbook, documenting learnings.
  • Maintain strong CRM hygiene by logging relationships and touchpoints in Salesforce.
  • Communicate effectively, capable of leading a room of founders and briefing marketing teams on market insights.
