About The Position

As an early member of Antares’ supply chain team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will define and execute the strategic roadmap needed to progress from prototyping to full-rate production. The role includes identifying, qualifying, and developing suppliers across multiple commodities; maturing fragile or nonexistent supply chains; partnering with engineering teams on design for manufacturability; and creating processes and systems that support business growth. As part of a small team in a growing company, the engineer will work in an ambiguous environment, balance competing priorities, and may contribute to areas beyond supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or a related field and 4+ years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering, supplier development or supplier quality, or supply chain management; alternatively, 5+ years of experience in one or more of those fields without a specified degree requirement.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% when necessary to interface with suppliers.
  • Must meet U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of experience in supply chain management or manufacturing for complex systems and assemblies.
  • 4+ years of experience in the aerospace and defense, automotive, semiconductor, or energy industries.
  • 4+ years of experience with electronics or electromechanical commodities or manufacturing in a high-complexity, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with supply-chain systems, including MRP and ERP.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing diverse commodities and suppliers.
  • Broad experience across supply-chain functions, including planning, procurement, supplier development, supplier quality, and logistics.
  • Proven success in a start-up or lean team.

Responsibilities

  • Define strategic roadmaps for selected commodities, including electronics, electromechanical components, controls, PCBAs, and harnessing.
  • Identify and onboard suppliers to build a mature supply base for prototyping and full-rate production.
  • Work with responsible and manufacturing engineering teams and suppliers to review drawings and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.
  • Coordinate with quality teams on supplier onboarding, quality and documentation requirements, nonconformances, and supply-chain procedures.
  • Inform make-versus-buy decisions, considering design feedback loops, product function, capital and resource investment, and manufacturing methods.
  • Develop bottoms-up should-cost analyses to support commercial negotiations and supplier evaluation.
  • Develop performance metrics and reporting to identify, communicate, and manage critical-path items.
  • Execute near-term actions for prototyping and development hardware to meet engineering and testing milestones.
