Senior Managing Producer, MS NOW Weekend Operations
About The Position
MS NOW is seeking a Senior Managing Producer to lead operational needs for weekend programs and build a training, recruitment, and retention program for team members. The role focuses on preparing the organization to deliver live, breaking, and enterprise news on Saturdays and Sundays. The successful candidate will bring leadership, business, and people-management skills, as well as experience with show and editorial leadership and an interest in newsroom workflows, processes, and people management. The Senior Managing Producer will manage weekend program operations and scheduling, work with senior programming and executive leadership on operational and workforce initiatives, and help develop training and entry-level recruiting. The position is based in New York, NY and requires flexibility to work under tight deadlines, including during breaking news.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of news show leadership experience on a national cable or broadcast platform.
- Passion for driving breaking and live coverage of current events, politics, and pop culture.
- Strong research skills and news judgment.
- Previous experience in training or people management.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours under tight deadline pressure, including during breaking news.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate degree or studies in business administration and/or journalism.
- Previous experience developing or deploying new workflows or processes within an existing organization.
- Entrepreneurial interest or experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage operational and scheduling needs for MS NOW weekend programs.
- Work with the VP, Weekend Programming and the MS NOW executive team on operational, training, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Provide backup support for the VP, Weekend Programming and Executive Managing Producer, Weekend Editorial.
- Maintain a clear, transparent, and fair production and on-air scheduling system using Workschedule.net.
- Develop and deploy an employee training program for MS NOW news programs to improve employee performance and retention at all levels.
- Work with leadership and HR to improve the effectiveness of entry-level recruiting.
