Associate Producer, MS NOW Digital
About The Position
MS NOW Digital is seeking an Associate Producer for Original Video / Social Media to shape political news content. This hands-on creative and editorial role involves conceiving, writing, producing, and editing original content for digital platforms. The Associate Producer identifies compelling stories and moments, develops clear and engaging ways to present complex political news, pitches ideas, collaborates with show teams and reporters, and responds quickly to breaking news. Strong knowledge of the MS NOW brand, shows, talent, and audience is essential. The role is represented by the Writers Guild of America East and requires flexibility to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as news demands. The stated schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday, 2 p.m.–10 p.m. The position is based in New York, NY.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in social media news production.
- Demonstrable experience identifying and producing shareable or viral news and perspective content.
- Knowledge of social media platforms, their audiences, and social media trends.
- Expert editing skills with Adobe Premiere.
- Experience turning breaking news into vertical content for social platforms.
- Proficiency with digital gear, including camera operation and microphones.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and different shifts for breaking news.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Identify compelling news moments, interviews, and segments to edit and package for platforms.
- Pitch, produce, and edit social packages and perspective content.
- React quickly to breaking news by producing accurate, compelling video content on deadline.
- Produce and edit original, social-first video.
- Write clear, accurate, and eye-catching headlines, captions, and copy.
- Create editorial graphics and photo posts for Instagram and other platforms.
- Work with show producers, reporters, and the broader Digital team to identify and execute daily editorial opportunities.
- Curate news content on the ms.now homepage and app as needed.
