About The Position

Excelitas is seeking a Senior Manager, Supply Chain to support its continued growth and innovation. This role is responsible for the procurement of commodities, supplies, and services for the Boulder site, specifically for R&D and Production, under the direction of the Director of Operations. The company focuses on advanced illumination, optical, detection, and imaging technologies and is looking for individuals who are curious, accountable, and collaborative to drive innovation.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in a technical purchasing environment
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and performance management
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Working technical knowledge of goods and services purchased
  • Excellent communicator
  • Demonstrates successful large project initiatives
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong business process knowledge on forecasting and planning processes
  • Strong experience with Contract Manufacturing relationships in machining and electronics assembly
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven abilities to excel in a dynamic and growing environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred but not required
  • Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) designation or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) preferred
  • Experience working in an ISO9001, 14001, 13485 certified, and/or FDA QSR compliant environment is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute complex procurement strategies to drive improvements and optimization.
  • Build the Purchasing team into a strategic sourcing operation.
  • Oversee operational excellence and integrity by establishing goals and objectives.
  • Develop a secure network of global suppliers.
  • Provide forecast data to key supplier partners.
  • Evaluate current and future domestic and global suppliers for supply continuity and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and be accountable for the Purchasing and Warehouse team's day-to-day activities.
  • Lead, motivate, and retain a team of high-performing employees.
  • Coach, mentor, and initiate training of employees for professional development.
  • Lead the implementation of opportunities to increase the productivity of the Purchasing team.
  • Delegate responsibilities for product returns of components.
  • Oversee the Warehouse manager to ensure inventory accuracy, inbound/outbound activities, freight negotiations, and customs compliance.
  • Oversee complex and critical purchases for the site.
  • Oversee the supplier selection and negotiation process for total cost, service, and quality improvements.
  • Measure and track performance, and lead the development of analytics for target setting, cost management, and savings.
  • Manage conflicting priorities to deliver high-value initiatives.
  • Identify and define sourcing best-practices and partner with stakeholders for adoption.
  • Work with the Quality team to define product and service objectives for quality control.
  • Work with corporate, product management, and R&D to support New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk and review strategies.
  • Attend team meetings to represent the site and provide expert advice.
  • Liaise with departments to develop specifications for material acquisition.
  • Maintain awareness of developments within the site's disciplines to develop plans and recommend strategies.
  • Report on procurement KPIs and spend data.
  • Provide a consulting role in new product introduction, offering input on material cost, availability, and suitability.
  • Contribute sourcing strategies and relationship management to reduce direct materials cost of goods sold, inventory turns, and days of supply.
  • Monitor monthly purchase price variance from standard cost.
  • Collaborate with the production planning team to drive inventory performance.
  • Conduct quarterly excess and obsolescence material reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
