About The Position

G&H is a global leader in optical designing, testing, and manufacturing, providing optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. Headquartered in the UK with operations in the USA and Europe, G&H is recognized for its broad range of optical products and serves OEMs in life sciences, industrial, and aerospace and defense industries. The company is seeking a Senior Manager, SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) to lead and mature the end-to-end SIOP process at its Fremont site. This role is crucial for aligning demand, supply, and financial plans to ensure predictable execution, improve delivery performance, and optimize inventory. The Senior Manager will act as a central integrator across Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain, bringing structure, visibility, and accountability to planning processes within a high-mix, technically complex manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, operational credibility, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment in a dynamic organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in supply chain, planning, or operations roles.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in SIOP leadership.
  • Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of implementing or maturing SIOP processes in a complex environment.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; highly data driven.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Executive presence with strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority across functions.
  • Operational credibility with understanding of manufacturing constraints and workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a bias for action.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or IBF).
  • Experience in optics, photonics, aerospace/defense, or similar manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the monthly SIOP cycle, including demand review, supply review, pre-SIOP, and executive SIOP meetings.
  • Establish and continuously improve a standardized, disciplined SIOP process aligned to business growth and operational needs.
  • Drive alignment between demand forecasts, production capacity, and financial targets.
  • Partner with Sales and Product Management to develop accurate demand forecasts, including pipeline analysis and scenario planning.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to translate demand into feasible production and procurement plans.
  • Balance capacity constraints, lead times, and inventory strategies to optimize service levels and cost.
  • Develop inventory strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining service levels.
  • Establish target inventory levels, safety stock policies, and planning parameters.
  • Monitor and drive improvements in inventory turns, working capital, and material availability.
  • Act as the primary point of integration between Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Facilitate decision-making by surfacing trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment between operational plans and financial forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain reporting dashboards for key SIOP metrics (forecast accuracy, on-time delivery, backlog health, inventory performance, capacity utilization).
  • Leverage ERP/MRP systems and planning tools to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Drive data integrity and standardization across planning inputs.
  • Identify risks related to demand volatility, supply constraints, and capacity limitations.
  • Lead scenario planning and contingency planning efforts.
  • Proactively escalate issues and recommend mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Build and develop SIOP/planning capabilities within the site.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to planners or analysts (if applicable).
  • Drive a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
