About The Position

Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) is a global function, responsible for making the right credit and fraud risk decisions that uphold operational excellence, drive growth, and accelerate innovation across American Express. CFR combines technology and infrastructure with new computing techniques to make better risk decisions and provide real-time customer communications and fraud servicing. This position is part of the US Consumer Charge FUW, Rev Code and Spend Enablement team, and will be primarily responsible for Financial Underwriting for US Consumer Charge portfolio. Consumer PFG is a growing function with the objective to manage high exposure on charge cards to minimize incremental high balance WO loss while also ensuring a smoother customer experience for premium charge customers, and this position plays a key role as part of a dynamic team to manage our Consumer FUW strategies including PFG, Re-UW, RLI and FUW RLA.

Requirements

• Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
• 4+ years experience in driving and implementing credit risk management strategies
• Exceptional professional communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to influence partners
• Advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, operations research, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field of study
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and continuously enhance Proactive Financial Gathering trigger logic
• Refine systematic and manual underwriting strategy
• Partner with RPDS, GSG and SBS to build robust next gen FUW capabilities
• Prepare and lead FUW case reviews with senior leadership
• Support UW case reviews and resolution of executive escalations
• Support Project Guardian related milestones including RCSA action items for Charge FUW process
• Collaborate closely with functional and servicing partners to profitably manage and maximize customer relationships
• Ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory, audit and oversight requirements
