This is a unique opportunity to build a high-impact Clinical Risk Management function at one of the world's leading healthcare organizations. The Senior Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating the clinical, legal, and operational risks associated with patient care events across the Rochester, Minnesota practice. Grounded in the principles of a Communication and Resolution Program (CRP), this role will build and sustain the operational infrastructure for event intake, triage, escalation, documentation, patient and family communication, caregiver support, and longitudinal follow-up. The Senior Manager will shape the organization's approach to patient care events by advancing a culture of transparency, accountability, learning, and patient-centered care, while strengthening organizational resilience and public trust. The Senior Manager is accountable for design, build, sustainment and operational management of risk activities throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise. Job duties include assisting in establishing the strategic direction of the work teams or service lines and overseeing the team's design and maintenance of leading practice technology, processes, tools, and analytics to support an effective risk related program. Manages function budget and resources. The position is responsible for working directly with and supporting peers and partners to drive the enterprise risk mitigation model forward which includes Intelligence, Data, Policies, Standards, Procedures, Communications, Training, and Education. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring appropriate processes are in place to ensure Mayo Clinic is compliant with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. This position will work collaboratively with myriad organizations and functional areas at Mayo Clinic, as well as provide direction to staff on administering subprograms within the Mayo Clinic Risk Department. Must have excellent analytical, business writing skills and project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and requests with intense deadlines. Has demonstrated high level of integrity and maintains confidentiality of team. The Senior Manager will be considered the subject matter expert and will be required to maintain a significant level of technical expertise and knowledge in their subject matter area, acting as a resource to internal and external committees and staff. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information. Level of Autonomy: Significant autonomy in performing duties of position. Works independently. Routine engagement and input from higher level leadership. Reports priorities and progress to higher level leadership. Responsible for business process design, creation of policies, and procedures. Provides input to risk assessments and business plans. Impact to Organization/Risk Level Mitigation: Accountable for the results of the function and team. Deals with extremely significantly sensitive and confidential organization information and projects. This is a hybrid position and the incumbent must live within 100 miles of the Rochester, MN campus. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.
