About The Position

The Electric Risk Management (ERM) team plays a critical role in evaluating, reporting, and informing investment decisions for PG&E's most significant electric system risks. ERM leads the implementation and continuous improvement of PG&E's risk decision framework, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. The team partners across the Electric Organization to support all aspects of transmission and distribution operations, including system planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, asset management, business planning, emergency response, and system restoration. Through these partnerships, ERM helps ensure that risk considerations are incorporated into strategic, operational, investment, and regulatory decisions. The Senior Risk Management Analyst is responsible for leading complex analytical efforts that support risk-informed decision-making across PG&E's electric operations. This role develops and applies quantitative risk methodologies to evaluate electric system risks, assess risk mitigation effectiveness, and support investment planning decisions. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing PG&E's transition to more granular and integrated risk-based evaluation frameworks that align risk modeling approaches across the enterprise. This position will conduct complex analyses, develop executive-level reporting, support regulatory filings and data requests, and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple organizations to monitor operational and enterprise risks. The Senior Risk Management Analyst will work closely with Electric Risk Management (ERM), Risk Analytics and Decision Analytics (RADA), Enterprise Operations and Risk Management (EORM), Electric System Planning, Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Electric Asset Strategy, Asset Knowledge Management, Regulatory Affairs, and other business partners to support effective risk management and investment decision-making. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location once a week and or based on business need.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five(5) years of experience in quantitative analytics, risk management, risk modeling, utility operations, engineering analysis, asset management, or a related field.
  • Experience analyzing complex data and developing actionable recommendations for business and operational decision-making.
  • Experience communicating analytical findings to technical and leadership audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in electric utility risk management, reliability engineering, asset management, wildfire mitigation, or investment planning.
  • Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, including GRC, RAMP, or similar utility regulatory filings.
  • Experience developing, validating, and applying quantitative risk models.
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry, Power BI, SQL, Python, R, or similar analytics platforms and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quantitative analyses to support operational, investment, and regulatory risk management strategies within Electric Operations.
  • Develop, enhance, and apply risk-based models that inform mitigation strategies, investment prioritization, and operational decision-making.
  • Conduct risk assessments for programs, projects, operational processes, and compliance requirements to improve risk visibility and reduce risk exposure.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify emerging risks, evaluate mitigation alternatives, and develop risk-informed recommendations.
  • Support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of electric risk models, including reliability and wildfire risk models.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and advance risk quantification practices across the organization.
  • Coordinate with Asset Family Strategists, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, and Risk Management teams to support risk mitigation planning and execution.
  • Analyze and communicate complex risk model outputs and analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop executive-level presentations and briefing materials for senior leadership, executive management, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs).
  • Support General Rate Case (GRC), RAMP, and other regulatory filings through analytical studies, data requests, testimony support, and regulatory responses.
  • Leverage risk information to inform and challenge business decisions, investment strategies, and operational priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on risk analysis methodologies, modeling approaches, and analytical best practices.
