About The Position

The Senior Manager, Real Estate - PMD leads a portfolio of complex remodel projects, driving end-to-end delivery from early planning and design through permitting and execution. The East Business Unit Project Management & Design (PMD) – Remodels team collaborates with Real Estate, Operations, Construction, and external consultants to deliver complex remodel projects across a broad geographic area. The team manages projects from initial planning through construction, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and operational goals. Design Managers lead portfolios, coordinate cross-functional efforts, proactively address risks, and drive solutions for timely project completion. The team emphasizes strong collaboration, clear communication, accountability, and continuous improvement to balance strategic objectives with real-time project demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and 3 years’ experience in architecture, construction management, engineering, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in architecture, construction management, engineering, or related area.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-site remodel or construction programs.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in project management, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Experience guiding architects, engineers, and external partners to successful project outcomes.
  • Agility in identifying and resolving issues and adapting to evolving business needs.
  • Commitment to supporting Walmart’s digital initiatives and enhancing the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end management of the Remodel Program, overseeing multiple store projects annually and maintaining an active portfolio of ongoing remodels.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Operations leadership—ranging from Store Managers to Regional Vice Presidents—ensuring project alignment with business goals.
  • Guide architects and civil engineers, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal business units to manage all aspects of project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Conduct hands-on data analysis and maintain direct communication with stakeholders across multiple, non-integrated systems.
  • Act as the critical link between field teams, Home Office associates, and external professionals for Remodels and Special Projects nationwide.
  • Influence and align diverse groups toward shared objectives, resolving complex issues with agility.
  • Analyze cost, scheduling, and permitting challenges, and guide implementation strategies to meet evolving business needs.
  • Ensure project readiness for permitting, bidding, and possession, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Maintain a standardized and balanced workload as project volume increases across business units.
