About The Position

The Senior Manager, Product Development (Prepared Foods) leads cross-functional teams to drive product initiatives from conception through delivery, ensuring alignment with business strategies and customer needs. This role manages product specifications, sourcing activities, and performance metrics while identifying and resolving issues to maintain production timelines. By conducting market research and benchmarking, the position supports innovation and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager also fosters collaboration across departments, provides leadership and development opportunities for associates, and upholds company standards to deliver high-quality products that contribute to business growth and operational excellence. The Product Development team at Sam’s Club drives innovation and quality enhancement for Member’s Mark products, focusing on profitable growth and superior customer experience. Collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional partners—including Merchants, Sourcing, Quality, Packaging, and Creative teams—the team manages product strategies and lifecycle processes. They address complex challenges through strategic insight and clear communication, ensuring alignment and timely delivery. By fostering strong partnerships, leveraging data-driven decisions, and promoting continuous improvement, the team supports business objectives and enhances product offerings across both online and in-store channels.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in product lifecycle management and new product development within complex environments.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment on product initiatives.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Ability to develop and manage product specifications, benchmarking industry trends to inform product strategy.
  • Proficient in analyzing business metrics and market research to support strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated capability in sourcing activities and ensuring compliance with documentation and audit requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Design, or related field and 4 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development initiatives by managing communications with internal and external partners to ensure alignment and timely updates.
  • Oversee sourcing activities, validating documentation and collaborating cross-functionally to support business strategies and audit accuracy.
  • Develop and manage product specifications throughout the lifecycle, conducting benchmarking and quality reviews to meet customer needs in the Prepared Foods categories.
  • Direct product strategy implementation by analyzing market research, identifying trends, and recommending enhancements to senior leadership.
  • Drive execution of business plans by removing obstacles, measuring progress, and adjusting strategies to meet performance goals.
  • Supervise and mentor associates, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting continuous development.
