The Sr Manager of Procurement - Visual Merchandising (VM) is responsible for overseeing the development of visual merchandising units and displays, serving as the single point of contact to VM vendors on behalf of both global and regional brands. The Sr Manager must partner with VM Design to ensure display engineering is consistent with design intent while optimizing functionality and cost, and work closely with VM Project Management to ensure on-time delivery. They must also help to develop and create merchandising strategies that support the goals and business objectives for Retail Channels within the Americas region across all Brands.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising, Design, and/or Engineering
  • A minimum 6 years of experience in Visual Merchandising with strong technical knowledge of display engineering and manufacturing
  • Experience in prestige beauty across multiple channels (department store, open sell, boutique)
  • Experience with purchasing and negotiations
  • Highly driven and energetic; proactive; takes initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail
  • Strong communication (written, oral, presentation) and interpersonal skills; able to build effective relationships with multiple brand stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Strong leadership skills; team spirited; able to guide and develop team members
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management skills; process-oriented
  • Able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in all PC/Office/MAC applications, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP
  • Willing to travel

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of visual merchandising units and displays, serving as primary point of contact with vendors on behalf of brand and shared VM Design teams
  • Lead and develop a team of two Senior Buyers
  • Discuss feasibility (materials, layouts, costs) of display designs with vendors
  • Partner with VM Design teams to address issues and provide alternatives to reduce cost and enhance functionality
  • Obtain bids and negotiate cost for individual projects
  • Identify, lead, and drive strategic projects for the VM category to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and improve quality
  • Coordinate the process for reviewing and approving engineering drawings to ensure consistency with design intent
  • Test and approve prototypes
  • Place purchase orders
  • Track production progress
  • Monitor display breakage / maintenance requests to identify functionality issues
  • Drive merchandising innovation by monitoring competitive merchandising activity, attending trade shows, and networking with new and existing vendors to keep abreast of industry trends/newness
  • Partner with VM Project Management to ensure on-time delivery against brand briefs
  • Support the visual merchandising process for Retail environments including Sephora, Ulta, Macys, etc. Department Stores
