About The Position
Meristem Packaging Company is a growing, mission-driven organization in the sustainable packaging space. We are seeking a hands-on finance and accounting leader to oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and support business growth in a lean, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work, operating with high ownership, and partnering directly with leadership while remaining hands-on in the accounting function.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of close and day-to-day accounting operations
- Solid foundation in US GAAP, Financial reporting, Cash flow management, and Reconciliations
- Experience working in small or mid-sized businesses with lean teams and limited resources
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor while partnering closely with leadership
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- QuickBooks experience required
- Candidates must currently reside in or near the Atlanta area
Nice To Haves
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or product-based environments strongly preferred
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Own and execute all core accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Month-end close
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage cash flow visibility, forecasting, and working capital monitoring
- Support banking relationships, including line of credit activity and lender reporting
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Service
- Ensure compliance with Sales tax, 1099 reporting, Insurance administration, and Company registrations and filings
- Support ongoing process improvement and future systems enhancements, including eventual transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and operational efficiency
