Senior Manager of Behavioral Health

Build Inc•Chicago, IL

About The Position

BUILD is seeking an experienced, collaborative Senior Manager of Behavioral Health to lead, manage, and provide operational oversight across its behavioral health services. The role strengthens program quality, staff performance, service delivery, accountability, and coordination across School-Based Mental Health, Community Mental Health, and other assigned behavioral health initiatives. It directly supervises the managers of School-Based Mental Health Services and Community Mental Health and works closely with the Director of Mental Health & Therapeutic Services to ensure programs are appropriately staffed, meet performance expectations, respond to participant needs, and align with BUILD’s strategic priorities. A significant initial responsibility is leading the development and implementation of PYO-TREAT, a SAMHSA-funded initiative to prevent overdose and expand access to substance use prevention, treatment, recovery support, education, and behavioral health services for youth and young adults ages 10–25. During development and launch, approximately 50% of the role will focus on PYO-TREAT and 50% on managing and overseeing School-Based and Community Mental Health programs. Once PYO-TREAT is fully operational, the expected allocation shifts to approximately 20% PYO-TREAT oversight and 80% broader behavioral health program management and leadership. Allocation may change based on program needs, grant requirements, staffing, organizational priorities, and the Director’s direction. The Senior Manager serves as a bridge between program management and departmental leadership. The role supports communication, accountability, staff development, interdisciplinary coordination, compliance, quality assurance, and consistency across BUILD’s behavioral health services. Responsibilities also include overseeing performance and quality improvement, supporting budgets and grant requirements, developing partnerships, and representing Mental Health & Therapeutic Services in internal and external settings as assigned. The position performs other work-related duties assigned by the Director of Mental Health & Therapeutic Services. Employment offers are contingent on a background check that includes a review of conviction history. BUILD considers conviction information on a case-by-case basis. BUILD may revise job duties and responsibilities as organizational needs arise; the description does not constitute a written or implied employment contract. Applicants and employees must be able to perform essential job functions, with reasonable accommodation determined case by case. BUILD states that it does not discriminate on legally protected grounds across its employment practices.
