About The Position

You'll be joining CIBC's IT Asset Management (ITAM) team as a Senior Manager. In this role, you'll govern and manage the CIBC Transactions and Compliance program, oversee procurement and renewal requests, and ensure accurate compliance validations, artifact retention, and entitlement management. You'll analyze complex data from multiple sources to create clear, actionable insights and recommendations. As a trusted advisor, you'll connect business units, contract management, vendors, and legal partners to facilitate effective collaboration. You'll proactively manage your workstream, optimizing processes for efficiency and data quality, and ensuring timelines are met. You'll leverage SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, SCCM, and other software discovery tools, using advanced analytics to support licensing optimization and compliance initiatives. Additionally, you'll provide guidance and support to your team, helping them complete renewals on time and fostering their professional growth. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software asset management, ITAM, and service management processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro and SCCM.
  • Ability to interpret entitlements, licensing models, contracts, and consumption data.
  • Experience supporting audits, renewals, and optimization activities in large enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and modern AI tools like Copilot and/or CIBC’s CAI, using analytics and automation to improve SAM accuracy, efficiency, and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor your team in daily operations, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with vendors.
  • Champion talent development by providing feedback and creating growth plans, while supporting leads in resolving compliance issues.
  • Use SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, SCCM, and advanced analytics—including AI capabilities like Copilot and CIBC’s in-house tool CAI—to optimize licensing and compliance initiatives.
  • Evaluate entitlement gaps, consumption trends, and compliance exposure across multiple vendors, and identify opportunities for automation and cost savings.
  • Build strong relationships with procurement, technology teams, product owners, vendor management, and finance.
  • Represent SAM confidently during reviews and discussions, and act as a subject matter expert for major software publishers including IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Broadcom, and OpenText.
  • Support vendor audits and interpret licensing terms, contract entitlements, and consumption reports.
  • Oversee daily SAM activities such as entitlement validation, license reconciliation, software catalog accuracy, discovery reviews, configuration adjustments, and reporting.
  • Maintain expertise in key licensing models—perpetual, concurrent, subscription, PVU, core-based, cloud consumption—and provide guidance to technology and business partners.
  • Drive the ongoing enhancement of SAM governance, AI adoption, operational procedures, and audit workflows.
