Senior Manager, Interconnection Services - ERCOT
About The Position
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Interconnection Services to lead and support generator and large-load interconnection activities across the ERCOT region. This role will play a critical part in the full lifecycle of project development—from early-stage siting and transmission feasibility through interconnection, construction and grid synchronization. The ideal candidate will serve as a key technical expert within the organization, partnering closely with internal development, engineering, regulatory, and commercial teams, as well as external stakeholders including ERCOT, Transmission Service Providers (TSPs), utilities, and consultants. This individual will also provide strategic technical support for acquisitions, project diligence, and portfolio optimization initiatives. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years significant experience supporting generation and/or large-load interconnection activities within ERCOT
- Strong knowledge of ERCOT protocols, transmission planning practices, and NERC reliability standards
- Direct experience managing ERCOT interconnection applications and study processes
- Experience working collaboratively with ERCOT, TSPs, utilities, and external consultants
- Proven experience reviewing and interpreting Full Interconnection Studies and associated upgrade requirements
- Strong understanding of transmission constraints, and grid reliability considerations
- Proficiency with power system modeling and analysis tools including: PowerWorld, TARA, PSS/E, DSATools, ASPEN
- Expertise in: Steady-state analysis, Short-circuit analysis, Injection and transmission feasibility studies
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a collaborative environment
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Experience supporting renewable energy, battery storage, thermal generation, or large industrial load projects in ERCOT
- Experience supporting technical diligence for acquisitions or development portfolios
- Familiarity with congestion analysis, curtailment assessment, and transmission optimization strategies

Responsibilities
- Lead ERCOT interconnection application activities, ensuring compliance with protocols, study requirements, and project timelines
- Manage projects through all interconnection study phases, including screening, Full Interconnection Studies (FIS), and grid synchronization activities
- Coordinate directly with ERCOT, TSPs, and other stakeholders to advance projects through the interconnection queue
- Review and validate interconnection study results, assumptions, and mitigation requirements
- Perform and oversee transmission injection analyses and system impact assessments to evaluate interconnection feasibility and grid impacts
- Conduct or review steady-state, short-circuit, and transient stability studies using industry-standard tools such as PowerWorld, TARA, PSS/E, DSATools, and ASPEN
- Assess curtailment risk, congestion exposure, and transmission constraints to inform siting and development strategy
- Identify optimal interconnection points and transmission solutions for new generation and large-load projects
- Provide technical consulting support for early-stage project development, including siting analysis and transmission feasibility evaluations
- Support M&A and acquisition diligence activities by assessing interconnection viability, upgrade exposure, and project risks
- Develop portfolio optimization strategies related to transmission access and interconnection positioning
- Monitor ERCOT market developments, transmission planning activities, and regulatory changes to inform project strategy
- Partner with development, engineering, origination, finance, and regulatory teams to advance projects and support investment decisions
- Prepare and present technical findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with ERCOT, TSPs, consultants, and industry partners
- Identify opportunities to improve interconnection outcomes, reduce development risk, and enhance project economics
- Maintains project schedules
- Negotiates agreements
- Reviews documents for technical accuracy
- Completes ad hoc projects, report development, and modeling
- Reviews market changes, policies, and laws
