About The Position

This role is a strategic marketing position within the Marketing Services organization, responsible for the planning, governance, execution, and optimization of industry meetings, conferences, congresses, trade shows, and customer engagement events for the Joint Reconstruction division in the US. The Senior Manager will act as a liaison between Marketing, Strategic Meetings Management (SMM), Communications, and external agency partners to ensure these events deliver measurable business outcomes and exceptional customer experiences. The individual will lead meeting strategy, content integration, branding, budget oversight, and operational excellence, while partnering closely with SMM on logistics, compliance, contracting, and event execution. This role functions as the 'Meeting Captain' for priority events and provides strategic oversight for other strategic, smaller-scale meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10-12+ years of progressive experience in marketing, strategic meetings, congress planning, customer engagement, event marketing, or related commercial functions.
  • Experience leading large-scale national or international conferences and customer-facing events.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with Strategic Meetings Management or event operations organizations.
  • Healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry experience required.
  • Experience working with agency partners and managing complex event budgets.

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Event Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual industry meetings and congress strategy aligned with business, commercial, and marketing objectives.
  • Establish event objectives, customer engagement strategies, success metrics, and post-event measurement plans.
  • Prioritize and optimize participation across key meetings.
  • Partner with Product Marketing and commercial leaders to identify high-impact opportunities for customer engagement.
  • Serve as strategic lead for flagship meetings.
  • Act as the primary Marketing partner to Strategic Meetings Management (SMM).
  • Collaborate on event planning timelines, resource requirements, staffing models, compliance requirements, agency engagement, and operational execution.
  • Ensure meeting strategies are effectively translated into executable event plans.
  • Participate in event planning meetings and governance reviews to align business objectives with operational requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of meeting management processes and best practices.
  • Design differentiated customer experiences that increase engagement and strengthen brand perception.
  • Lead attendee journey planning across pre-event, onsite, and post-event touchpoints.
  • Ensure consistent and compelling brand presence across all meeting assets and customer-facing experiences.
  • Partner with Marketing Communications and Digital teams to develop integrated event communication plans.
  • Ensure meeting content aligns with broader campaign and marketing priorities.
  • Lead planning efforts across Marketing, Professional Education, Professional Relations, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Excellence, and external partners.
  • Facilitate alignment on event priorities, investments, deliverables, and business goals.
  • Influence stakeholders across functions without direct authority.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, agencies, and vendors supporting meeting activities.
  • Manage event-related budgets and investment recommendations for assigned meetings and congresses.
