Senior Manager, Industrial Engineering

IREN•San Francisco, CA
•$152,000 - $205,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Industrial Engineering owns the analytical and performance backbone of IREN's industrialized delivery model — leading the Industrial Engineering and Operational Excellence functions, plus insource-versus-outsource decision analysis, to measure and continuously improve delivery performance. This role ensures the industrialized delivery program's performance is rigorously measured and that field and fabrication learnings are systematically fed back into design, standards, and sourcing decisions. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, operations, or continuous improvement roles, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or large-scale infrastructure delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, labor productivity analysis, and make-vs-buy or sourcing cost modeling.
  • Strong analytical and data & analytics background; experience building scorecards, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving lessons-learned processes connecting field execution back to design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field required.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.
  • Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or owner-operator data center development a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Industrial Engineering lead's team in tracking and modeling on-site labor hours per MW as a leading indicator of delivery performance across all projects.
  • Own manhour forecasting to support project planning, resourcing decisions, and portfolio-level labor productivity targets.
  • Own the make-versus-buy analytical framework — the cost and capacity analysis determining whether a given module, subassembly, or scope of work should be built in-house or through an external manufacturing partner.
  • Partner directly with the Make vs. Buy analyst to keep this analysis current as manufacturing partner capacity, cost, and project pipeline evolve, feeding decisions directly to Project Management's supplier planning.
  • Direct the Operational Excellence lead's team in implementing Lean construction principles and continuous improvement methodologies across the industrialized delivery program.
  • Own the structured lessons-learned and feedback loop connecting commissioning, construction, and fabrication back to design, ensuring field observations translate into updated standard designs and specifications.
  • Oversee the training and data & analytics functions supporting program-wide performance tracking and workforce development.
  • Own the industrialized delivery performance scorecard — off-site build percentage, module installation cycle times, FAT pass rates, field rework, schedule compression, and total cost of ownership — reporting program health to the VP.
  • Evaluate automation, digital fabrication, and smart manufacturing technologies (BIM-to-fabrication workflows, digital twin alignment, factory-level quality assurance tools) for integration into the delivery pipeline.
  • Recruit, build, and lead the Industrial Engineering and Operational Excellence teams, including the Industrial Engineering lead, Operational Excellence lead, and Make vs. Buy analyst.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within the team.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation package that includes base salary, annual performance incentives, and opportunities to build long-term wealth through equity programs.
