About The Position

As the Senior Manager, Healthcare & Professional Banking, you will lead a dynamic team of specialists dedicated to serving the healthcare and professional sectors. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, mentor a talented team, and contribute to the growth of Scotiabank's market share in these high-value segments. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business, ensuring that our strategies align with Scotiabank's objectives and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading and overseeing the Healthcare & Professional Advisor (HCPA) Banking team across Canada, contributing to servicing and growth in select healthcare and professional student segments to support the growth of high value practicing professional customers.

Requirements

  • University degree (business focus preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5-10 years of management experience ideally in business and/or franchising capacity
  • Expert knowledge of people, sales management and coaching techniques
  • Expert relationship building skills and strong sales/closing capabilities
  • Expert knowledge of Commercial Banking products and services, including systems, routines and operating procedures
  • Expert knowledge of interviewing, solicitation and business development techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of all commercial management platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank’s commercial lending and deposit products and services, and customer profitability model
  • Credit skills and a working knowledge of financial analysis, risk analysis techniques, credit adjudication and the Bank’s lending policies/procedures

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate your team to exceed sales and revenue objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and collaborate with key partners across various business lines to achieve objectives.
  • Manage and deepen relationships with key clients, industry experts, universities, and professional associations.
  • Actively manage the performance of your team, providing timely training, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the healthcare and professional markets, including career and business life-cycle stages.
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develops and leads the implementation of tactical plans to support the overall strategy for Healthcare and Professional Banking in the achievement of the business objectives.
  • Provides leadership to motivate and develop individual and team performance.
  • Ensures the customer portfolio assigned to the team receives ongoing attention to maintain, improve and retain relationships.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of an acceptable quality Healthcare and Professional credit portfolio and client base, within established parameters for underwriting within program parameters (e.g. Scotia Professional Plan).
  • Maintains a high market profile within the assigned market areas with both internal and external contacts.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
