About The Position

CARE Canada is looking for a Senior Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this role will lead and support a team of Managers, Grants Finance & Compliance and conduct several processes to meet operational and contractual requirements that support the effective management of various development projects. This position is accountable for the development of systems for effective project financial management, ensuring funds are used for the intended purpose, donor compliance requirements, supporting the development of project proposal budgets, overseeing the analysis of project expenditure against budgets, investigating variances, and providing risk mitigation. This involves the project accounting cycle, continuous review, update, and analysis of the portfolio performance of projects to ensure adequate planning, forecasting, and measurement of Outcome Area budget targets. The incumbent is also expected to provide coaching, technical advice, and capacity building to Grants Manager direct reports and Country Office/Partner project finance staff.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior financial role
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in contracts negotiations with various Government agencies (GAC), international UN agencies & private donors.
  • An ability to readily see the financial and reporting implications of the terms and conditions in donor contracts
  • A thorough understanding of budgetary processes and variance analysis
  • A thorough understanding of accounting processes as they impact on the overall financial system
  • A good appreciation of the need to provide timely and reliable information to senior management and to donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance personnel in a simple manner, without the technical / accounting jargon
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (a valid passport will be required)
  • Strong computer skills specifically in Excel, Outlook and the Windows operating environment
  • Strong Financial analytical skills
  • Experience with analytical tools like PowerBI, creating dashboards and working with SQL databases
  • Strong Management skills
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task, and/or provide timely feedback on an as needed and/or urgent basis
