About The Position

Another Source is recruiting a Senior Manager, Fiscal Services for the California State University Chancellor's Office. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting leader to oversee the Chancellor's Office Fiscal Services and Accounts Payable teams, strengthen internal partnerships, and help modernize financial operations within one of the nation's largest public university systems. Reporting to the Senior Director of Systemwide Financial Standards & Reporting, you'll lead the Chancellor's Office Fiscal Services and Accounts Payable teams, overseeing day-to-day financial operations while driving continuous improvement, strengthening internal controls, and enhancing customer service. You'll directly lead two managers and provide indirect leadership to a team of seven accounting professionals, while partnering with stakeholders across the CSU system to improve financial operations and implement innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience within a public university or comparable fund accounting environment.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Three (3) years of PeopleSoft Financials experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting principles, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated success leading accounting operations while developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Experience leading projects, managing competing priorities, and implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Fiscal Services and Accounts Payable teams, providing leadership, coaching, and direction to managers and accounting staff.
  • Oversee monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls that align with CSU policies and accounting standards.
  • Partner with finance and budget teams across the Chancellor's Office to ensure operational excellence.
  • Oversee internal audits and help maintain a strong culture of compliance and accountability.
  • Build a customer-focused team committed to delivering exceptional service throughout the organization.
  • Deliver financial systems and accounting policy training for Chancellor's Office departments.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for accounting and accounts payable guidance.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments and encourage adoption of available financial resources.
  • Develop operational metrics and performance indicators to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Champion digital transformation initiatives, including process improvements, automation, and reporting enhancements.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic projects and organizational priorities.
