About The Position

The Sr. Manager, FP&A leads SVCE’s financial planning and analysis function, including budgeting, long-range financial planning, forecasting, financial modeling, performance reporting, and analysis that supports strategic decision-making. This role partners with the CFO and cross-functional leaders to evaluate financial impacts, maintain sound financial policies and planning processes, and provide clear insights that support SVCE’s fiscal health and long-term objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, long-range financial planning, financial modeling, reserve planning, revenue analysis, and management reporting.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory, legislative, market, and operational factors and incorporate them into financial plans, forecasts, and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate complex financial data, identify key drivers, and communicate insights clearly.
  • Ability to develop dashboards, KPIs, models, and reporting tools that support sound financial and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong leadership, project management, collaboration, and communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to executive leadership, committees, governing boards, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, public administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, reporting, treasury support, or a related finance function, including experience leading staff, projects, vendors, or cross-functional work.
  • 3+ year experience leading, supervising, and developing employees in a people management role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a public power agency, community choice aggregator, utility, public agency, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience with long-range financial planning, revenue forecasting, reserve planning, treasury analysis, credit rating support, cost-of-service analysis, or financial dashboard development.
  • Experience in Energy/Commodity Risk Management
  • Experience presenting financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership, advisory committees, boards, or elected officials.
  • Professional certification or advanced degree in finance, business administration, public administration, economics, accounting, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SVCE’s budget development and preparation process in partnership with the CFO and organizational leaders.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year financial plans, revenue forecasts, and financial models that incorporate key regulatory, legislative, market, and organizational assumptions.
  • Analyze financial performance, including actual results compared to budget and forecast, reserve planning, and other key financial indicators.
  • Develop management reports, KPIs, dashboards, and other decision-support tools that communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of new programs, rates, and strategic initiatives and provide recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Support treasury-related planning, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, reserve management, and investment portfolio oversight in coordination with the CFO and external investment manager.
  • Improve FP&A planning tools, forecasting processes, data collection, and reporting integrity in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including SVCE’s data team.
  • Support SVCE’s credit rating management by monitoring key financial metrics and preparing reports and analyses for rating reviews.
  • Maintain and support compliance with applicable financial planning, budget, reserve, treasury, and related policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Improve financial planning and budgeting tools and systems, including data collection and integrity.
