Senior Manager, Field & Event Marketing

HandshakeSan Francisco, CA
$148,000 - $185,000Remote

About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Field and Event Marketing is a senior, hands-on role on Handshake's Marketing team. You'll build and lead field marketing and events across two distinct business lines: our Careers business (enterprise employers and higher education institutions) and Handshake AI (researchers and leaders at frontier AI labs). You'll own end-to-end strategy and execution for marquee experiences — major conference presence, executive dinners, VIP and sporting events, workshops, and roundtables — all designed to build pipeline, deepen customer relationships, and accelerate deal cycles. You'll report to the Director of Field Marketing and work closely with executives and GTM leadership. The pace is fast and the expectations are high; we're looking for someone who's energized by that.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of field marketing and events experience
  • Proven track record owning executive-tier programs: dinners, VIP experiences, conference strategy
  • Comfortable operating at a strategic level while staying close to execution
  • Strong project management skills and calm under pressure
  • Clear communicator across all levels of the organization
  • Actively uses AI tools to work smarter — whether that's drafting briefs, analyzing event data, building first-draft assets, or cutting time off repetitive tasks
  • Experience with Google Suite, SplashThat (or equivalent), Salesforce, Marketo/Eloqua/HubSpot/Pardot, and virtual event platforms (Hopin, Goldcast, Zoom Webinar)

Nice To Haves

  • ABM, demand gen, and high-touch executive program experience is a plus

  • Set the strategic direction for field and events across both business lines, aligned to pipeline targets, retention goals, and revenue objectives
  • Lead a portfolio of event formats from concept through post-event ROI analysis
  • Act as a strategic partner to executives and GTM leaders on positioning, audience strategy, and how field programs connect to business goals
  • Continuously evaluate what's working, what we haven't tried, and where we can raise the bar — using AI tools to research trends, test ideas, and move faster
  • Manage a complex, multi-initiative calendar — making smart trade-offs and surfacing clear recommendations to leadership
  • Partner with Demand Gen, Content, Product Marketing, and Marketing Ops on integrated programs and assets, leveraging AI to accelerate content and asset production
  • Measure and report on field program ROI: attendee feedback, pipeline influence, deal acceleration, and engagement
  • Own and evolve our third-party event calendar, evaluating fit across both business lines
  • Travel at least once a month
