About The Position

As the Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Compliance & Operations, you will lead EHS programs across Symbotic’s operations, ensuring compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations while driving a proactive safety culture across manufacturing, customer sites, and construction environments. You will serve as a key EHS leader and subject matter expert, partnering with Operations, Legal, HR, Facilities, and site leadership to reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and support safe, efficient operations at scale. This is a hybrid role requiring approximately 40% domestic travel. You will work on-site at various project locations based on business needs, with your home base at our Wilmington, MA headquarters. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the HQ to support the hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, compliance, or operational safety within a manufacturing, robotics, warehouse automation, automotive, construction, or industrial environment.
  • Experience leading EHS programs across complex operational environments, including manufacturing floors, customer sites, construction sites, or field-based operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, environmental compliance requirements, incident investigation, audits, inspections, and corrective action management.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety management systems, EHS policies, training programs, and behavioral-based safety initiatives.
  • Experience managing environmental programs such as RCRA waste management, DOT compliance, sustainability, or related programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, drive change, and execute in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple initiatives, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SharePoint experience preferred.
  • Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to customer and business locations.
  • Employees are responsible for managing business travel expenses using a personal credit card and submitting expenses for reimbursement on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Masters preferred.
  • ASP, CSP, OSHA 30-Hour Trainer Certification, or related EHS certification preferred.
  • Workers’ compensation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Environmental Health & Safety compliance programs across manufacturing, customer operations, and construction site environments.
  • Ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA and applicable environmental requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on EHS regulations, safety standards, health codes, training requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update internal policies, procedures, training programs, and compliance processes.
  • Lead communication with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, and support inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS management systems, corporate safety policies, and site-level safety programs.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Customer Site Operations, Construction, Facilities, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to embed EHS programs into daily operations.
  • Lead safety training strategy and execution to ensure employees, contractors, managers, and site leaders understand their responsibilities.
  • Implement behavioral-based safety programs and engagement initiatives that strengthen safety awareness and accountability.
  • Manage environmental programs, including RCRA waste management, DOT-related requirements, sustainability initiatives, and other applicable compliance programs.
  • Identify operational risks, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement efforts that reduce incidents and improve safety performance.
  • Promote EHS policies, initiatives, and best practices through effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management.
