About The Position

The purpose of this position has the overall objective of enhancing shareholder value by reducing taxes through effective tax planning strategies and defense of these strategies while ensuring the Company conducts its affairs with knowledge of and in conformity with applicable tax laws. This position oversees a major function within the tax department; functional areas may include: research and planning, financial statement reporting, compliance reporting, international tax, and audit defense.

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Juris Doctor Law (JD) certification or global equivalent required
  • Master of Science in Taxation (MST) and/or Master of Laws (LLM) degree or global equivalent
  • Ten (10) years of recent tax experience in a public accounting firm, law firm and/or large multinational company
  • Four (4) years of managerial experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • High critical thinking/reasoning ability

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and review of state and local income tax returns, estimates, and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Lead state income tax audits, disputes, and controversy matters through resolution
  • Direct state tax planning initiatives and technical research to optimize tax positions and mitigate risk
  • Partner with the income tax accounting team in quarter-end and year-end tax provision processes
  • Supervise and develop tax professional; ensure adherence to company policies
  • Lead strategic projects as directed by executive tax leadership
  • Regularly develop, establish, and continuously improve processes and procedures
  • Participate in Fluor University
  • Other duties as assigned
