About The Position

This role is for a Senior Manager of Development and Construction Accounting who is a proven senior leader, agile and adaptable, motivated by challenges, and adept at problem-solving and encouraging prompt decision-making. The ideal candidate is friendly, approachable, and skilled at building strong relationships across accounting, project, and senior leadership teams. They are accurate, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proactive and independent with strong, open communication, this individual will have experience working with and optimizing a modern ERP environment.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of experience in a similar management role
  • Proven ability with leadership
  • A CPA Designation
  • Real Estate development accounting experience, including financial modelling, cash management and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability in handling high volume in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing demands
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • The ability to present project information to various levels of Anthem management and are comfortable taking an active role in meetings

  • Experience with Yardi is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage a team of Development Accountants, providing leadership and mentorship through regular meetings and defined growth plans.
  • Ensure the financial close maintains compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of projects in the portfolio, working closely with project teams to ensure project proformas are updated accurately and financial impacts are communicated to senior leadership and partners.
  • Manage and maintain project proformas, including scenario modeling and cash flow projections with a strong understanding of capital structuring.
  • Analyze project performance to identify risks and opportunities early, proactively raising issues to project teams and senior leadership.
  • Prepare and/or review partner and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency with deal structures, and timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership and management agreements.
  • Review construction loan draws and liaise with cost consultants/lenders.
  • Review working paper files for project entities, ensuring accurate reflection of financial position in accordance with the applicable accounting framework.
  • Enhance internal processes, strengthen controls, and contribute to broader initiatives for the accounting team.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating multiple audits for the project portfolio and review audit support prepared by the team.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as required.
