About The Position

The Senior Manager, Data Architecture & Solutions owns the data and solution architecture of btOS, Baker Tilly’s operating system for Managed Services. This senior individual-contributor role reports directly to the Principal, Products & Platforms and directs engineers, contractors, and partner resources on the initiatives they lead. The role designs and stewards the durable client data model, integrations, and governance beneath btOS so that its AI, data, and BI engines can change without disrupting clients. It turns business-line and client needs into reference architectures, data models, integration patterns, and working solutions, carrying them through sourcing decisions, enterprise intake, pilots, and sustained adoption. The role also participates in client pursuits and solution discussions involving data, automation, and AI. Success requires hands-on architecture credibility, business acumen, and the ability to keep multiple initiatives moving in a fast-paced consulting environment with incomplete information. In the first year, the Senior Manager is expected to publish the btOS reference architecture and data model, carry at least one business-line platform through intake to production, move a proof of concept into sustained use with measured adoption and value, and serve as a technical voice in client pursuits.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in consulting, professional services, managed services, financial services, or technology.
  • At least 4 years designing and delivering data or analytics solutions.
  • Hands-on experience architecting data platforms, including cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred), ETL/ELT and workflow tools (KNIME, Alteryx, or equivalent), SQL, and the Microsoft Power stack (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query).
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems such as ERP and general ledger, property or fund accounting, payroll/HRIS, CRM, or ticketing platforms into a shared data layer.
  • Track record moving solutions from concept through development, deployment, and sustained adoption, including audit-ready controls, reconciliation, and exception reporting.
  • Experience directing engineers, contractors, or partner resources without direct line authority.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect architecture decisions to business outcomes, costs, and measurable value.
  • Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills, including comfort participating in pursuits, workshops, and executive reviews.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams amid changing priorities and incomplete information.
  • Strong influencing and relationship skills with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in data science, analytics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, RAG, APIs, AI agents, and agentic workflows, including how they consume a governed data layer.
  • Experience with intelligent document processing, automation, or workflow platforms in finance, accounting, HR, or payroll contexts.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting, family office, real estate, private equity, or fund administration processes and related systems such as Yardi, Investran, Dynamics, NetSuite, or Sage.
  • Experience in managed services, shared services, business process operations, or other recurring-delivery environments.
  • Enterprise technology vendor and alliance relationships, including evaluating partners, investments, or acquisitions.
  • Experience with corporate performance management and financial planning tools such as Solver, or similar tools, and BI platforms.
  • Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and security frameworks in professional-services or regulated settings.

Responsibilities

  • Own the btOS reference architecture, including the canonical client data model, integration patterns, and standards that allow AI, data, and BI engines to be changed without disrupting clients.
  • Design data flows from client source systems—including ERP, general ledger, property management, fund accounting, payroll/HRIS, and ticketing systems—into Snowflake, KNIME, and Microsoft Power, and onward to Solver, Basis, Agent Studio, Phinite, and btIQ (Client Prism).
  • Define btOS data governance, quality, lineage, and access standards aligned with firm Data Governance, GRC, and Security requirements.
  • Maintain the btOS technology inventory and future-state map, including platform dependencies across engines, business lines, and client cohorts.
  • Translate business-line and client requirements into architectures, data models, workflows, and expected outcomes; document solution designs before development begins.
  • Lead solution builds for prioritized initiatives and direct engineers, contractors, and partner resources through design, development, testing, and release.
  • Build reusable connectors, data pipelines, reconciliation and control workflows, and reporting models for use across business lines.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership on data pipelines, automation, and analytics when initiatives require it.
  • Evaluate Build / Buy / Borrow options and prepare business cases for the Tech Committee.
  • Guide platform requests through enterprise intake and approval processes, including MS Intake and Approval, TDIO submission, EasyVista, EA/ET/Data Gov/GRC/Risk review, Legal, Procurement, and Finance; represent Managed Services requirements in those reviews.
  • Coordinate with data, automation, document-intelligence, and AI partners; assess vendors for integration fit, scalability, economics, and client value.
  • Support btOS platform renewals and lifecycle planning with Application Support and Procurement.
  • Participate in client discovery, workshops, pursuits, and deal reviews where data, automation, or AI shape the Managed Services solution.
  • Design client-facing btOS solutions for pursuits, including data onboarding, integrations, dashboards, insight products, and operating effort.
  • Support solution narratives, demonstrations, executive presentations, and pricing inputs with VAO and business-line leaders; communicate technical capabilities as business outcomes and client value.
  • Move solutions from proof of concept, including work with the MS AI Council, through TDIO enablement and into sustained use across the client lifecycle.
  • Work with business-line and delivery leaders on adoption, training, and integration into existing workflows.
  • Define and track adoption, productivity, quality, client-outcome, and financial measures; report value realized to Products & Platforms and MSLT.
  • Identify adoption barriers and coordinate teams to address them.
  • Connect Managed Services business lines with TDIO, Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, Innovation, and the AI solutioning group.
  • Influence across teams without direct reporting relationships and escalate decisions, risks, and dependencies to the Principal, Products & Platforms and the Tech Committee.
  • Design human review, controls, and escalation into AI-enabled and automated workflows; work with Risk, Legal, and Security to ensure solutions meet firm standards.
