Senior Manager, Customer & Commercial Operations

Aegis Ventures
$145,000 - $175,000Remote

About The Position

Optain is at an inflection point, having achieved FDA clearance and experiencing exponential growth in its enterprise segment. The operational infrastructure to support this growth is being built from scratch, and this role is responsible for that build. As the Senior Manager, Customer & Commercial Operations, you will own US customer operations, connecting commercial momentum to customer outcomes. This includes managing camera ordering and inventory, ensuring hardware is delivered to new customers efficiently, establishing and running the US camera servicing function, and overseeing the contract execution process for new commercial agreements. The primary goal is to take over these currently manual workflows, manage them effectively, and systematically redesign them for scalability, utilizing AI tooling to minimize manual work and achieve linear growth in headcount.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in business or operations roles, with hands-on ownership of hardware logistics or commercial contract management (both is a plus).
  • Startup experience strongly preferred; comfortable operating without a defined playbook in a Series A or B environment.
  • A systems thinker who leaves every process easier to run than they found it.
  • Hands-on with AI tooling, including building or automating real workflows.
  • Exceptional written communication and attention to detail.
  • Takes ownership seriously, communicates proactively, and is comfortable operating with limited structure; often defining the process.
  • US-based position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in management consulting or investment banking.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, ideally medical device, IVD, or health tech with a hardware component.

Responsibilities

  • Own the camera supply chain from factory to activated device, including forecasting demand, managing manufacturing partners, and ensuring timely hardware delivery and activation.
  • Stand up the US service function from scratch, designing processes for repairs, replacements, and loaner units to ensure high uptime for health system customers.
  • Partner with sales on commercial terms, draft and redline customer contracts, manage outside counsel, and drive agreements to signature.
  • Shape contract terms, including pilots designed to convert into committed volume, for health systems, provider groups, and independent practices.
  • Secure data rights essential for the AI roadmap, recognizing that contracts and data use terms are integral to product strategy.
  • Build the contracting machinery, including reusable templates, workflow tooling, signing authority routing, and playbooks to expedite deal closure.
  • Manage legacy contract obligations from an acquired business and support ongoing compliance with existing customer agreements.
  • Draft internal policies and SOPs to address operational gaps as the company grows.
  • Utilize AI tooling to automate workflows and reduce manual work, aiming for a function that scales without proportional headcount increases.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including a strong base salary, performance-based bonus, and meaningful equity.
  • Top-tier health, vision, and dental benefits.
  • Generous monthly health and wellness reimbursement.
  • Unparalleled exposure to new business building at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare.
  • Opportunity to help solve difficult problems and collaborate with world-class experts.
  • Chance to work with a highly talented, close-knit team and world-leading mentors.
