About The Position

The Senior Manager, Corporate Development and M&A, leads complex strategic initiatives by driving mergers and acquisitions efforts, collaborating across functions to deliver business-aligned solutions. This role involves analyzing financial and market data, managing project timelines, and facilitating negotiations to maximize value and mitigate risks. The position requires guiding cross-functional teams, fostering effective communication, and ensuring compliance with company policies. By leveraging advanced analytical skills and strategic frameworks, the Senior Manager supports informed decision-making and drives execution of corporate growth plans that align with organizational objectives and long-term success. The Walmart Corporate Development team is a focused, high-performing group supporting senior leadership on strategic and M&A initiatives across Walmart U.S., Sam’s Club, and Walmart International. The team identifies and executes growth opportunities through acquisitions, equity investments, joint ventures, and partnerships. As a Senior Manager, you will engage in strategy development, financial analysis, and deal execution, collaborating closely with business and functional leaders. This role offers significant exposure to senior leaders and strong potential for career advancement within Walmart, contributing to the company’s long-term growth and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field and 3 years’ experience in Merger & Acquisitions, Investment Banking, Business Development, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in Merger & Acquisitions, Investment Banking, Business Development, Engineering, or related area.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
  • Excellent valuation, analytical, and financial modeling skills
  • Superior communication (written/verbal), presentation, and project management skills
  • Ability to interact with senior leadership internally and externally

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Walmart business leaders to develop M&A strategy, identify, and assess potential inorganic growth opportunities, and build consensus
  • Develop and manage relationships with investment banking, private equity, and venture capital investors in retail, digital media, supply chain, and AI/emerging technologies
  • Lead all transaction-related financial modeling and valuation analysis
  • Manage Walmart’s diligence process that involves working in close partnership with internal functional teams (e.g., legal, accounting, tax) and external advisors
  • Build presentations for Walmart’s senior leadership that convey effective narrative, outline strategic trade-offs, and drive executive decision making
  • Support the Walmart Integration/Separation team on post-close planning and execution
