About The Position

Simon-Kucher is seeking a Senior Manager to join its growing North American Consumer sector, with a specific focus on the Retail business. This role requires expertise in Revenue Growth Management (RGM advisory) and broader end-to-end commercial excellence. The ideal candidate will be part of a high-performing unit delivering best-in-class RGM strategies and will have the opportunity to quickly advance into a leadership position within the practice. Requirements

  • Outstanding drive, determination, and desire to be part of a growing, top tier consulting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for the Consumer sector, with specific focus on the Retail industry.
  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a professional services environment, ideally in management consulting, serving the Consumer sector, specifically the Retail industry.
  • Proven business consulting expertise in disciplines such as: growth strategies, go-to-market strategy, segmentation (advanced analytical), product and portfolio design, pricing, marketing, value proposition development, distribution strategy (omni-channel management, digitization, and channel orchestration), sales strategies (sales efficiency, processes, incentives, and motivations), monetization strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to distill insights/takeaways from large sets of data.
  • Effective presentation and communication abilities to succinctly present findings, takeaways, and key recommendations to a senior audience.
  • Demonstrated record of solving complex problems, directing teams, managing individuals, and completing challenging projects activities within tight project timelines.
  • Record of accomplishment of managing multiple engagements, including work plans, deliverables, budgets and schedules, and accounts receivable.
  • Strong work ethic, highly collaborative, great team-player, and having an exceptional entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Highly inclusive and empathetic approach to leadership and team management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work seamlessly and collaboratively with various internal and external colleagues and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • MS, MA, MBA, or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Access to an existing network within the Consumer Retail industry in North America, preferably with senior executives within Retail organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of client engagements, elevating analysis, insights, and client-centric depth.
  • Bring knowledge across commercial and go-to-market topics within retail, including pricing strategy, promotion effectiveness, markdown optimization, assortment optimization, merchandising, consumer segmentation, loyalty programs, and omnichannel strategies.
  • Drive project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with client needs and objectives, and managing project cost structure and margin.
  • Lead and guide junior consultants to develop innovative and actionable insights and recommendations using data, analytics, and research.
  • Develop trusted senior-level advisory relationships by delivering high-quality, tailored recommendations.
  • Effectively engage senior clients at all stages of their commercial growth strategy.
  • Expand and develop new capabilities, tactics, and tools for clients.
  • Identify and engage with prospective clients to understand their needs and expand the company's commercial growth strategy footprint.
  • Provide exceptional client service and client-focused communication.
  • Prepare client-ready deliverables and present findings and recommendations to senior clients.
  • Effectively manage multiple engagements and project teams concurrently, including developing team members through coaching and feedback.
  • Lead project teams by defining clear roles, demonstrating strong project management, and serving as the primary client contact.
  • Create engagement workplans and guide teams through project activities, including research and analysis.
  • Oversee the work and outputs of team members across multiple engagements and provide timely feedback.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of Simon-Kucher's Consumer sector, specializing in Retail practice.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including lead generation, content creation, proposal development, and client pitches.
  • Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to clients.
  • Analyze existing processes and tools and recommend improvements.
  • Coach and develop consultants and serve as a Career Development Advisor (CDA).
  • Demonstrate empathy and emotional intelligence when managing conflict and communicating change.
  • Play an integral role in the recruitment and integration of new consultants.
  • Be a leader in the firm and contribute to Simon-Kucher's culture and success.
