About the team: The team focuses on enhancing Walmart’s assortment decisions by integrating customer insights, space strategy, and execution. They develop localized, actionable plans that enable each store and channel to better meet customer needs. Leveraging expertise in data science, merchandise planning, assortment strategy, artificial intelligence, and space planning, the team drives category modular assortment design and optimization. Collaborating cross-functionally, they analyze trends and performance to deliver effective solutions. The team fosters continuous improvement and innovation to support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and customer-centric merchandising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Design, Marketing, Mathematics, or related field and 3 years’ experience in retail, replenishment, supplier sales, finance, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in retail, replenishment, supplier sales, finance, or related area.
  • Extensive experience in assortment strategy, merchandise planning, and modular layout design within retail environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data sources, identify trends, and recommend actionable insights.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing teams, driving cross-functional collaboration, and overseeing complex project execution.
  • Expertise in validating and optimizing category modular assortments aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic business plans while maintaining high standards of accuracy and process integrity.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, adaptability, and fostering a performance-driven team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct category modular assortments and design layouts aligned with overall category strategy and store clusters.
  • Oversee modular cluster variations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to merchandising rules and layout templates.
  • Analyze internal and external data to identify product trends, market gaps, and strategic opportunities across multiple categories.
  • Design and develop tools to optimize Assortment Activation processes to drive more efficient and accurate outcomes.
  • Drive business plans by identifying needs, removing obstacles, and measuring performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and development opportunities to associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
