About The Position

Adobe Commerce powers storefronts for merchants and brands worldwide, making security, reliability, and scalability critical. Adobe is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with a strong software engineering background, hands-on development experience, practical security expertise, people leadership, and a track record of delivering complex engineering initiatives. The role initially focuses on security engineering, with opportunities to expand into developer tooling, platform engineering, automation, and other Commerce Engineering initiatives.

The manager will lead and develop an engineering team while providing technical leadership across architecture, development, testing, and operational excellence. They will own engineering planning and execution, balancing business priorities, technical debt, and security risks; lead security initiatives; partner across Security, Product, Architecture, and Engineering; and promote AI-first security engineering.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on design, development, and delivery of production software.
• 4+ years of engineering management experience, building and leading high-performing teams.
• Strong technical foundation in full-stack development (React/TypeScript, Java, Node.js), REST APIs, and microservices, with solid knowledge of system design and security best practices.
• Hands-on experience in application and cloud security, including OWASP Top 10, threat modeling, secure SDLC, vulnerability management, identity and access management (OAuth2, SSO), security monitoring, and incident response.
• Proven ability to lead multiple initiatives, drive execution, and collaborate across teams.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools and automation to improve engineering productivity and security workflows.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, including managing critical production and security incidents.

Nice To Haves

• Experience leading security or platform engineering teams in SaaS/cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with threat modeling, vulnerability management, and security frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Experience applying AI/ML and agentic workflows to security scanning, threat detection, and automated remediation.
• Experience with Adobe Commerce, e-commerce platforms, or PHP applications.
• Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, OSCP) are a plus.
