About The Position

Aropa Consulting seeks an experienced Senior Managing Consultant who is excited to drive our growing fundraising work. This dual-role requires senior-level expertise in client consulting and project execution, as well as the proven ability to lead and manage a growing team. This position is ideal for a senior fundraising leader, with demonstrated experience raising funds and building teams to do so. The Senior Managing Consultant will ensure the quality and consistency of all fundraising services, manage team capacity, and serve as the primary subject matter expert and internal mentor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated senior nonprofit leadership experience in fundraising, especially supporting executive leadership to increase with their fund development skills
  • Experience across various fund development functions including individual giving, institutional fundraising, government grants and contracts, event management, digital marketing, and beyond.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and facilitate high-stakes conversations with clients and leadership team
  • Expertise in developing and writing complex proposals and statements of work for new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and evaluating the performance of team members, including staff and contractors.
  • Experience in managing team capacity, resource allocation, and overseeing the quality and consistency of client deliverables.
  • Proficiency in and comfortable with technology and software, including Google Workspace, Microsoft tools, and project management platforms (e.g. Productive, Slack).
  • Transparent and collaborative attitude and a love of solving problems with others.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated if you are able to use the word balderdash somewhere in your application.
  • Commitment to Aropa’s values, particularly equity and care, ensuring all solutions are designed with human impact and accessibility in mind.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience serving as a Chief Development Officer or a Senior Fundraising consultant
  • Proven success in providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to support the professional development of fundraising staff.
  • Direct experience implementing community-centric fundraising principles at your organization or a client’s organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, from prospect to delivery
  • Lead the development and writing of complex proposals and statements of work for new business opportunities.
  • Ensure that the client and project details are maintained and accurate in our project management system
  • Liaise with other Aropa consultants, as needed by the client
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for high-stakes client issues or project challenges related to fundraising work, providing expert guidance and resolution.
  • Develop fundraising strategies for small to mid-size organizations, which can include: prospect and grant research, gift history analysis, community research, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare and write fundraising plans, cases for support, stewardship strategies that align with the clients values and community-centric fundraising
  • Tweak initiatives based on feedback and results, and work with the client to optimize the fundraising plan and achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Work with a client for a set number of hours each month, serving as a part of their fundraising team
  • Develop monthly goals with the client and then execute on those goals
  • Manage additional consultants or fractional team members, as needed
  • Execute on regular fundraising tasks as they align with the strategy, such as grant writing, prospect development, prospect calls, developing campaign materials, donor follow-up, etc.
  • Supervise and mentor senior fundraising staff and contractors within the Fundraising Pillar.
  • Oversee the quality, consistency, and alignment with Aropa’s values (including community-centric fundraising) for all client deliverables produced by the Pillar.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to staff working on fundraising projects to support their professional development.
  • Manage team capacity, project assignments, and resource allocation for the Fundraising Pillar.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert, staying current on best practices and trends in equity-based and community-centric fundraising.
