Essex Property Trust•San Francisco, CA
•$91,000 - $109,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance aspects of community operations and objectives, including maintaining the physical asset, supporting a quality living environment for residents, operating within the property budget to help increase Net Operating Income, and fostering productive relationships with staff. The role is designated for properties with 500 or more units, or multi-site management totaling at least 500 units, and reports to the Community Manager or General Operations Manager. Although the opening description says after-hours on-call coverage is not required, the duties later mention handling after-hours emergencies and that transportation during working hours or on-call is required. The supervisor oversees maintenance staff and property systems, coordinates preventive maintenance and repairs, addresses resident work orders, inspects the property, supports regulatory and safety compliance, manages maintenance costs, and coordinates vendors and improvement projects. The position also maintains activity records and provides updates to property management. It operates in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor setting, requires availability five days per week with possible weekend scheduling, and may involve driving between sites and travel to properties. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of property-management-industry or related experience. Candidates should have hands-on knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair, familiarity with environmental and industrial hazards in residential housing, and the ability to supervise at least two associates. An HVAC and/or CPO license is preferred. New hires generally start at $91,000–$109,000 per year, with the final offer based on relevant factors. Full-time regular associates are offered competitive salaries, career growth, and benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid parental leave, a 401(k) employer match, excellence rewards, wellness programs, 12 paid holidays, 15 PTO days, and, for most positions, a 20% housing discount.
